This as a quick read and light, great for a weekend where you have time between other eventful things. To summarize this book I would say: disappointing. Through reading the first half i was sensing the gentle, sensitive descriptions that I remember from reading Murakami, so I was happy with that. I think the last quarter or the book was a let down. We find out that her friend was kidnapped and now has emotional issues…and…nothing more. No big revelation from her, nothing tying their liver together previously, nothing she can do to help him. Also, the friend doesn’t seem to change after sharing this secret.
